At Megalong Icelandic Horses, we focus on creating thoughtful, long-term partnerships between horse and rider. Each year, we offer a limited number of Icelandic horses for sale, carefully raising and training them with the goal of finding their ideal human match.
Most of our horses are young and still progressing through their education, rather than being fully finished horses. This allows new owners to become part of their horse’s journey from an early stage and build a strong connection along the way.
Finding the right Icelandic horse is about much more than simply purchasing a horse — it’s about finding a partner that suits your riding experience, personality, goals, and dreams for the future. That is why we invite all prospective buyers to visit Megalong, meet our herd, and experience our training philosophy and the environment our horses are raised in.
As part of the process, visitors are asked to ride one of our trusted school horses. This helps us understand your riding level, confidence, and aspirations, allowing us to carefully match you with a horse that will suit you both now and as you grow together in the years ahead.
Once the right match has been identified, it is possible to place a deposit on a young horse while they continue their training. Owners are encouraged to be involved in their horse’s development through lessons, guidance, and regular communication, creating a smooth transition and a strong partnership from the very beginning.
Our horses are bred and trained with a strong focus on temperament, quality gaits, versatility, and sound foundations. Sale prices generally range from AUD $18,000 – $25,000, depending on factors such as age, pedigree, level of training, and experience. Please note that all prices on the website are excl. GST.
For those interested in breeding, we occasionally also offer a small number of promising young fillies from carefully selected imported bloodlines.
